Synjan Walker
Not every woman in her mid-twenties gets to be second-in-charge of a criminal organisation though Synjan downplays her role—mostly because she doesn’t want it. Thing is, she’s so good at keeping people in line and being the solution to the problems that crop up on a daily basis that she finds it hard to imagine herself doing anything else. Synjan already has what she needs to get away but is obligated to the man who handed her every opportunity on a stolen silver platter. Betrayal is not an easy game to play… especially when the game is rigged.
Daeson of Cloverlea
With a talent for being able to spot a liar, Daeson relies heavily on what people say but he never considers what’s left unsaid—until he leaves the quiet farming village of Cloverlea. When Daeson uses the Wanderer Portal, he is thrust into a world where truth and lies are interchangeable and knowing the difference makes him a valuable asset. Already in danger for travelling into a world without documentation, he’s quickly scooped up by a local businesswoman who understands that Daeson is a risk worth taking.
Hawke Aron
Born into privilege, Hawke Aron of Donovan Court resents the expectations nobility thrusts upon him. The youngest of four, he pushes his boundaries, acting now and paying later. When he challenges a small group of Wanderers stealing from his family’s land, he is ripped from his home and taken to a world he cannot recognise. Begrudgingly, Hawke becomes reliant on the Wanderers who’ve abducted him, aware that he is at their mercy.
Howard Ellis
Intelligent and with an intense stare that seems to look into the deepest parts of a person’s soul, Ellis has a knack for collecting the right kind of people to surround himself with. On the wrong side of the law but smart enough to never get his hands dirty and to present himself as a sophisticated businessman, he escapes the attention of the Authorities - who consider him to be a much smaller time criminal than what he really is.
Omerri Backhouse
Omerri has always been underestimated. While it irritated her when she was younger, she gradually learnt to wield men’s assumptions like a weapon. Now she enjoys playing the part of an elegant, non-threatening woman, secure in herself and her abilities. Many people trust her… and they shouldn’t. She is a survivor and a ruthless one at that.
Nick Logan
Nick Logan has had many and varied tasks, most notably switching from the employ of the notorious criminal Howard Ellis to savvy businesswoman Omerri Backhouse. He shifted from charismatic thug to being in charge of greasing the wheels of Omerri’s less-than-legitimate businesses. Leadership suits Logan and he considers himself a success story.
Irian Cayden
A career-minded Authority officer and family man, Irian doesn’t share the anti-Wanderer outlook that many of his counterparts do.
Kegan Frederickson
A lifetime Authority soldier who found his calling in the special task force I.T.R. (Interworld Tactical Response), Kegan Frederickson leads a double life. He is Kegsy to those in the Authorities who respect him, and Freddy to those in his private life who he cares about - and he does his best to keep the two separated.
Brita Enervolding
Raised as an Authority brat but growing into a sophisticated and elegant woman, Brita is well-connected among high ranking Authorities, mostly thanks to her mother, a well-respected General.
The Hunter
When the Authorities discover illegal Wanderers moving through the worlds, they send a specialised team to track them down and dispose of the threat. The Hunter is one such soldier, dedicated to the task, exceptionally skilled at what he does and is filled with contempt for the Wanderers that he tracks down and assassinates.
